Serengeti Migration When and Where to see

The Serengeti Migration. This unique movement of fauna in the world occurs every year when the wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, etc … And the predators that follow them, move within the more than 14,000 square km of the Serengeti in search of food.

The Great Migration in the Serengeti is an impressive natural spectacle that primarily occurs between the months of June and September. During this period, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other animals migrate in search of fresh grass and water, following a seasonal cycle.

The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the adjacent areas of Masai Mara in Kenya are the main places where you can witness this phenomenon. Depending on the movement of the animals, the exact location to observe the migration may vary. Typically, in June and July, the animals move northwards in the Serengeti and cross into Masai Mara in search of fresh grazing grounds. In August and September, they tend to return southwards in the Serengeti.

To see the Great Migration, you may consider booking a safari in Tanzania or Kenya in any of these national parks during the mentioned months.
